IL-13 (show IL13 Antibodies), IL-4 (show IL4 Antibodies) and IL-5 (show IL5 Antibodies) have no effect on the expression of FUCA1 (show FUCA1 Antibodies) and FUCA2, but its expression is upregulated by IFN-gamma (show IFNG Antibodies), a Th1 (show TH1L Antibodies) cytokine.
serum alpha-L-fucosidase (show Fuca Antibodies) was identified as a useful marker for close monitoring of patients during post-treatment follow-up
Findings not only demonstrate an important connection between FUCA2 and the adhesion, growth, and pathogenicity of H. pylori, but also support the idea that FUCA2 is a potential target for diagnosis and therapy of H. pylori-related diseases.
This gene encodes a plasma alpha-L-fucosidase, which represents 10-20% of the total cellular fucosidase activity. The protein is a member of the glycosyl hydrolase 29 family, and catalyzes the hydrolysis of the alpha-1,6-linked fucose joined to the reducing-end N-acetylglucosamine of the carbohydrate moieties of glycoproteins. This enzyme is essential for Helicobacter pylori adhesion to human gastric cancer cells.
