Description
HLA G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues. It is a heterodimer consisting of aheavy chain (with a1, a2, a3 domains) and a light chain (beta 2 microglobulin). Alternatesplicing provides both soluble and membrane bound forms of HLA G, with two solubleisoforms and four membrane bound isoforms. HLA G may be part of the fetal protectionsystem and is expressed on fetal derived placental cells.
Specificity
The antibody G233 recognizes several isoforms of HLA-G expressed in all populations ofextravillous trophoblast (cell columns, interstitial trophoblast, endovascular trophoblast, placental bed giant cells). HLA-G belongs to the nonclassical MHC Class I molecules (MHCClass Ib). The antibody G233 has been found not to cross-react with any other MHC Class Iantigens (HLA-A, -B, -C, -E, -F). Species Reactivity: Tested: Human
