This antibody was produced from a hybridoma resulting from the fusion of a mouse myeloma with B cells obtained from a mouse immunized with purified, recombinant Human TrkC / NTRK3 (rh TrkC / NTRK3, NP_001007157.1, Met1-Asp428) and conjugated with PE under optimum conditions, the unreacted PE was removed.
TrkC is a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK) family which mediates the biological activities of neurotrophins. The Trk proteins exhibit different ligand specificities, and TrkC is a functional receptor for neurotrophin 3 (NT3), but not for the highly related neurotrophic factors NGF or BDNF. TrkC is a membrane-bound glycoprotein preferentially expressed in the brain, primarily the neural lineages. Upon neurotrophin binding, TrkC phosphorylates itself and down stream molecules of the related pathways, and therefore mediates the NT3-stimulated neurotrophic effects. This protein thus leads to cell proliferation, differentiation and plays a role in the development of proprioceptive neurons. Mutations in this gene have been associated with medulloblastomas, secretory breast carcinomas and other cancers. Multiple isoforms of TrkC is produced including receptors showing impaired signaling responses with inserts in the catalytic domain.
