Background: Ly-51 is a 140 kD protein also known as 6C3/BP-1. It is a homodimeric cell-surface glycoprotein with aminopeptidase A (APA) activity. Ly-51 is expressed on B cell progenitors, bone marrow stromal cell lines, thymic dendritic cells, and cortical epithelial cells. Ly-51 expression can be upregulated by IL-7 stimulation.
