Alternative Name
- HIPK2
-
Background
- HIPK2 (Homeodomain Interacting Protein Kinase 2) is a serine/threonine kinase present in the nucleus that interacts with homeodomain transcription factors and acts as a co-repressor of transcription. It inhibits cell growth, as well as promotes apoptosis through the phosphorylation and subsequent degradation of the anti-apoptotic factor CTBP1. HIPK2 also phosphorylates CBX4 upon DNA damage and promotes its E3 SUMO-protein ligase activity.
