Background
- Background: 70 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase I (p70S6K) encodes a member of the ribosomal S6 kinase family that phosphorylates the 40 S ribosomal subunit protein S6 and eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B). p70S6 functions in the PI3K and mTOR pathway to induce protein synthesis and cell growth and proliferation in response to growth factors. S6K2 is an isoform of p70S6K.
