- Target
- UIMC1 (Ubiquitin Interaction Motif Containing 1 (UIMC1))
- Alternative Name
- RAP80 (UIMC1 Products)
- Background
- Background: RAP80 was first identified as a nuclear protein that interacts with the retinoid-related testis-associated receptor (RTR) and is able to inhibit the interaction of RTR with the N-CoR co-repressor. RAP80 has also been shown to interact with estrogen receptor alpha (ER-alpha) and modulate its activity. The modulation of ER-alpha activity is dependent on the ubiquitin-interacting motif (UIM) of RAP80. The UIM of RAP80 has also been demonstrated to be important for the BRCA1-dependent DNA repair response.
