Background
- Background: ERC1 (ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST family member 1) is a regulatory subunit of the IkappaB kinase (IKK) complex. ERC1 probably recruits IkappaBalpha/NFKBIA to the IKK complex. ERC1 may be involved in the organization of the cytomatrix at the nerve terminals active zone (CAZ) which regulates neurotransmitter release, and may also be involved in vesicle trafficking at the CAZ. ERC1 is also likely involved in Rab-6 regulated endosomes-to- Golgi transport [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q8IUD2].
