  • Target

    CHEK1 (Checkpoint Kinase 1 (CHEK1))

    Alternative Name

    Chk1

    Background

Background: Chk1 functions as a checkpoint protein kinase that is critical to the regulation of the Cdc25a and Cdc25c phosphatases that promote S and G2/M phase progression, respectively. Chk1 kinase activity inhibits cell cycle progression in the presence of DNA damage by phosphorylating Cdc25a and Cdc25c and causing the degradation of Cdc25a and cytoplasmic sequestration of Cdc25c.
