Background: Background: The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a membrane spanning tyrosine kinase receptor for epidermal growth factor (EGF) and other ligands of the EGF family such as TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, betacellulin, epiregulin and heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor.
