Background
- Erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 3,HER3 (ERBB3) is a transmembrane protein of the epidermal growth factor receptor family, although it does not have an active tyrosine kinase domain. It can bind its ligand, but for further signaling it needs heterodimerization with other receptor tyrosine kinases of EGFR family. Overexpression of HER3 has been observed in many carcinomas.
