    Handling Advice

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, keep on ice when not in storage

    Storage

    -80 °C

    Storage Comment

Recombinant proteins in solution are temperature sensitive and must be stored at -80°C to prevent degradation. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.

    Alternative Name

    HNMT

    Background

Protein Background: Histamine acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain which participates in the regulation of many biological processes including inflammation, gastric acid secretion, and neuromodulation. The enzyme histamine N-methyltransferase (HNMT) inactivates histamine by transferring a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to histamine, and is the only well-known pathway for termination of neurotransmission actions of histamine in mammalian CNS.

Short Description: Recombinant HNMTprotein that includes full lengthof human HNMT protein (accession number NP_008826.1) was expressed was expressed in E. coli cells with an N-terminal GST tag. The molecular weight of the protein is 60.13 kDa.

    Aliases: Histamine N-methyltransferase, HMT, MRT51
