  1. Lck (show LCK Proteins)-CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) interaction is required for initial CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) recruitment.

  2. Comparing the sequences of mouse, human, rat and dog Cd8a and Cd8b1 gene loci identified 10 evolutionarily conserved regions (ECR). 6 ECRs overlapped with previously identified Cd8 enhancers. ECR-4 recruits transcription factors to the Cd8ab gene complex.

  3. CREMalpha orchestrates epigenetic remodeling of the CD8A (show CD8A Proteins),B through the recruitment of DNA methyltransferase (show DNMT1 Proteins) (DNMT (show DNMT1 Proteins)) 3a and histone methyltransferase G9a (show EHMT2 Proteins).

  4. We propose that ADP-ribosylation of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins)-beta can regulate the coreceptor function of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) in the presence of elevated levels of extracellular NAD(+) .

  5. sialylation in a discrete segment of the CD8beta stalk by ST3Gal-1 sialyltransferase creates a molecular developmental switch that affects ligand binding

  6. Data demonstrate that major histocompatibility complex-I-signaled thymocytes appear as CD4 (show CD4 Proteins)+8lo cells because of transient down-regulation of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) gene expression, not because of changes in CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) surface protein expression or distribution.

  7. The stalk region of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) beta is capable of fine-tuning the coreceptor function of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) proteins as a coreceptor, possibly due to its distinct protein structure, smaller physical size and the unique glycan adducts associated with this region.

  8. results demonstrate epigenetic control of the Cd8 (show CD8A Proteins) loci and identify MAZR (show ZNF278 Proteins) as an important regulator of Cd8 (show CD8A Proteins) expression

  9. The crystal structure of the CD8alphabeta immunoglobulin-like ectodomains were determined in complex with mAb YTS156.7 Fab (show FANCB Proteins) at 2.7 A resolution, was elucidated.

  10. The stalk region of CD8beta influences the ability of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) to bind class I major histocompatibility complexes and is therefore critical for the correct functioning of CD8alphabeta heterodimers.

  2. transcription factor cAMP-responsive element modulator (show CREM Proteins) alpha (CREMalpha), which is expressed at increased levels in T cells from systemic lupus erythematosus patients, contributes to transcriptional silencing of CD8A (show CD8A Proteins) and CD8B.

  3. A clustering of DNase (show DNASE2 Proteins) hypersensitivity sites and matrix attachment regions capable of binding SATB1 (show SATB1 Proteins) and GATA-3 (show GATA3 Proteins), colocalized at the 3' end of the CD8B gene, suggests that this region is an epigenetic regulator of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) expression.

  4. RT-PCR, and related methodologies are not useful substitutes for assessment of CD4 (show CD4 Proteins) and CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) cell numbers in HIV-infected persons.

  5. study demonstrated differential mRNA expression patterns of CD8beta splice variants in thymocytes and in resting, memory, and activated primary CD8 (show CD8A Proteins)(+) T cells

  6. Data show that CD8 (show CD8A Proteins)+LAP+ cells produce IFN-gamma (show IFNG Proteins), and these cells suppress EAE that is dependent on both TGF-beta (show TGFB1 Proteins) and IFN-gamma (show IFNG Proteins).

CD8B Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. The CD8 antigen, acting as a coreceptor, and the T-cell receptor on the T lymphocyte recognize antigens displayed by an antigen presenting cell (APC) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor is either a homodimer composed of two alpha chains, or a heterodimer composed of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes the CD8 beta chain isoforms. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct membrane associated or secreted isoforms have been described. A pseudogene, also located on chromosome 2, has been identified.
