Additional Information
| Alternative name | mature BDNF (Brain derived neurotrophic factor) (n-terminal region) |
| Swiss-Prot | P23560 |
| Immunogen | A synthetic peptide from human mature BDNF (BDNF, Brain-derived neurotrophic factor, Abrineurin) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen. The peptide is homologous in many other species including rat, mouse, zebra fish and xenopus. |
| Format | Lyophilized |
| Isotype | IgG (Matching secondary antibodies) |
| Description | FUNCTION: Promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. Major regulator of synaptic transmission and plasticity at adult synapses in many regions of the CNS. The versatility of BDNF is emphasized by its contribution to a range of adaptive neuronal responses including long-term potentiation (LTP), long-term depression (LTD), certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity, as well as homeostatic regulation of intrinsic neuronal excitability. SUBUNIT: Monomers and homodimers. Binds to NTRK2/TRKB. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted. Also known as: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor, BDNF, Abrineurin. |
| Specificity | Appears to be specific for mature BDNF. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | IHC, WB. A concentration of 10-50 µg/ml is recommended. The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user. |
| Purity | IgG |
| Storage | Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
