Conjugate
- This p53 antibody is un-conjugated
-
Application
- Western Blotting (WB)
- Specificity
- The antibody detects endogenous level of p53 only when phosphorylated at threonine 18.
- Purification
- The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. The antibody against non-phosphopeptide was removed by chromatography using non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the phosphorylation site.
- Immunogen
- Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of pThr18 (Q-E-T (p) -F-S) derived from Human p53. Antibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with synthetic phosphopeptide and KLH conjugates.

- Background
- Acts as a tumor suppressor in many tumor types, induces growth arrest or apoptosis depending on the physiological circumstances and cell type. Involved in cell cycle regulation as a trans-activator that acts to negatively regulate cell division by controlling a set of genes required for this process. One of the activated genes is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases. Apoptosis induction seems to be mediated either by stimulation of BAX and FAS antigen expression, or by repression of Bcl-2 expression. Implicated in Notch signaling cross-over.
