ELISA: To detect hIL-11 by direct ELISA (using 100 l/well antibody solution) this antibody can beused at a concentration of 0.15 - 0.30 μg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatiblesecondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 ng/well of recombinant hIL-11. Western Blot: To detect hIL-11 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of0.1 - 0.2 μg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detectionlimit for recombinant hIL-11 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducingconditions. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Interleukin 11 is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by mesenchymal-derived adherent cells. IL11 shares many functions of IL6 and LIF, including potentiation of megakaryocyte activity, enhancement of human myeloma cell proliferation, and enhancement of hepatic acute phase protein production. Interleukin 11 directly stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells, and induces megakaryocyte maturation resulting in increased platelet production. Clinically it is used to prevent severe thrombocytopenia and the reduction of the need for platelet transfusion following myelosuppressive chemotherapy.Synonyms: AGIF, Adipogenesis inhibitory factor, IL-11
