    Background
CD256 is a member of the tumour necrosis factor family, which is expressed in B cells and several tumour cells. The protein is involved in stimulating B and T cell proliferation, triggering humoral immune responses, activating NF-kappaB and inducing cell death. CD256 is thought to play a role in autoimmune diseases and cancer.Synonyms: A proliferation-inducing ligand, TALL-2, TALL2, TNF- and APOL-related leukocyte expressed ligand 2, TNF-related death ligand 1, TNFSF13, TRDL-1, Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13, ZTNF2
