This Mouse Monoclonal antibody specifically detects ALIX in WB, IF, IP, IHC (p) and EIA. It exhibits reactivity toward Human, Mouse, Rat and Xenopus laevis.
This antibody recognises apoptotic-linked-gene-product 2 (ALG-2) interacting protein X (ALIX), a conserved adaptor protein which is ubiquitously expressed.

Background
ALIX was originally reported to play a role in apoptosis but has recently been shown to be involved in other cellular mechanisms including endosomal sorting, endocytosis, viral budding and actin cytoskeleton assembly. ALG2 interacting protein X is a Class E VPS protein involved in concentration and sorting of cargo proteins of the multivesicular body (MVB) for incorporation into intralumenal vesicles. Fusion between endosomes and the vacuole will then target the cargo proteins to the vacuolar lumen. In case of infection, the HIV-1 virus directly takes advantage of its function for viral exocytosis and budding, via its interaction with HIV-1 p6 protein. It may play a role in the regulation of both apoptosis and cell proliferationSynonyms: ALG-2-interacting protein 1, Hp95, KIAA1375, PDCD6-interacting protein, Programmed cell death 6-interacting protein
