Background: This gene encodes a member of the cadherin superfamily. Cadherins are membrane glycoproteins that mediate homophilic cell-cell adhesion and play critical roles in cell differentiation and morphogenesis. Decreased expression of this gene may be associated with tumor growth and metastasis.
