Background: May be required to maintain the proliferative capacity of stem cells. Stabilizes MDM2 by preventing its ubiquitination, and hence proteasomal degradation. May interact with p53 and may be involved in tumorigenesis. This protein is found in both the nucleus and nucleolus. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene
