The use of proteolytic enzymes (e.g. trypsin) to improve immunostaining should also be avoided as this may result in the appearance of 'false positive' staining due to the enzymatic induction of reactive -R-F-NH2 from nonreactive -R-F-G-K/R-K/R- pro-hormone sequences.
