    Background
This locus encodes a guanine nucleotide-binding protein. The encoded protein, an alpha subunit in the Gq class, couples a seven-transmembrane domain receptor to activation of phospolipase C-beta. Mutations at this locus have been associated with problems in platelet activation and aggregation. A related pseudogene exists on chromosome 2.,GNAQ,CMC1,G-ALPHA-q,GAQ,SWS,Epigenetics & Nuclear Signaling,Translation Control,Regulation of eIF4 and p70 S6 Kinase,Cancer,Signal Transduction,G protein signaling,Signal Transduction,G2/M DNA Damage Checkpoint,PI3K-Akt Signaling Pathway,mTOR Signaling Pathway,Phospholipase Signaling Pathway,Cell Biology & Developmental Biology,Apoptosis,Cytoskeleton,Microtubules,Actins,ESC Pluripotency and Differentiation,Endocrine & Metabolism,AMPK Signaling Pathway,Neuroscience,Neurodegenerative Diseases,Cardiovascular,Blood,Coagulation,Heart,GNAQ
