- Background
- Background: SAH3 is an alkaline ceramidase isoform. Cermidases function to cleave fatty acids from ceramides to yield sphingosine. Ceramides can mediate signals that lead to differentiation, apoptosis, or senescence. SAH3 is a ceramidase isoform found in the epidermis of mammals and may play a role in keratinocyte differentiation.
