    Background
Background: CCDC131 (coiled-coil domain containing protein 131) is an uncharacterized proline/serine rich coiled-coil protein that bears 6 HAT repeats- and 5 TPR repeats. Coiled-coil proteins exhibit tertiary structures made up of a number of highly organized alpha helices wound around each other to mediate oligomerization. HAT (half a TPR) repeats form amphipathic alpha-helices and are similar to TPR repeats which are 34 amino acid repeat motifs which form alpha helical structures.
