- Target
- F-Actin-Uncapping Protein LRRC16A (CARMIL1)
- Alternative Name
- CARMIL
- Background
- Background: CARMIL binds CAPZA2 with high affinity and significantly decreases CAPZA2 affinity for actin barbed ends. It increases the rate of elongation from seeds in the presence of CAPZA2, however, seems unable to nucleate filaments. CARMIL Rapidly uncaps barbed ends capped by CAPZA2 and enhances barbed-end actin polymerization (By similarity).CARMIL may control actin dynamics in lamellipodi and be required for cell migration [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q5VZK9].
