- ALIX (PDCD6IP) (Programmed Cell Death 6 Interacting Protein (PDCD6IP))
-
Alternative Name
- ALIX
-
Background
- Background: ALIX (ALG-2 interacting protein X) is thought to participate in programmed cell death. Studies using mouse cells have shown that overexpression of ALIX can block apoptosis. ALIX has been shown to bind to the PDCD6 (programmed cell death 6 interacting protein), a protein required for apoptosis, in a calcium-dependent manner. ALIX also binds to endophilins, proteins that regulate membrane shape during endocytosis [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 10015].
