-
Characteristics
- The clone 962C1, a mouse monoclonal antibody, reacts with the human CD41 Molecule, the integrin alpha-IIb also known as platelet GPIIb. CD41 is composed of two subunits GPIIbα (120 kDa) and GPIIbβ (23 kDa) that interact with CD61 to form a functional protein receptor in the presence of calcium. This protein receptor involves in the blood coagulation system, by mediating platelet adhesion and aggregation. Upon blood vessel damage, CD41 binds to a variety of proteins like von Willebrand factor, fibrinogen, fibronectin and vitronectin. CD41 is mainly expressed on megakaryocytes and platelets. Diseases associated with CD41 dysfunction include Glansmann Thrombasthenia, and Platelet type-16 bleeding disorder
