Specificity: This antibody is capable of binding human cytokeratin 5 and human cytokeratin 6. Cytokeratins are intermediate filaments found in the intracytoplasmic cytoskeleton of epithelial tissue. Cytokeratin 5/6 is often expressed in a basal cell layer of normal mammary ducts. Studies have also shown that CK5/6 can be used as a characteristic marker of basal-like breast cancer.

Application Details

Application Notes: The binding characterization of this antibody was done using ELISA. The original IgG2b antibody binds cytokeratin 5/6 with a high affinity constant of 3.84 x 10^(9) M^(-1). This antibody was also used in the immunohistochemical analysis of esophagus and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The immunohistochemical staining pattern of this antibody is similar to commercially available antibody D5/16B4 (CN113845592).

This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG2b format for improved compatibility with existing reagents assays and techniques.
