Background
- C-Kit is the receptor for stem cell factor (mast cell growth factor). It is a transmembrane receptor with tyrosine-protein kinase activity. Binding of the ligands leads to the autophosphorylation of the c-Kit receptor and its association with substrates such as phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (Pi3K) [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) www.uniprot.org/uniprot/ P10721].
