HDAC inhibitor

Characteristics

Chemical chaperone for misfolded proteins. Resolves ER stress in neuronal cells by aiding protein folding in the ER. Counteracts impaired glucose homeostasis in a mouse model of type 2 diabetes by preventing islet amyloid formation. Attenuates atherosclerotic progression and stabilizes existing plaques in mouse model of atherosclerosis via inhibition of ER stress. Protects against amyloid β-induced neurotoxicity in a mouse model. Weak histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor which inhibits glioma cell proliferation. Active in vivo.
