Antigen
Alternative Name Chromogranin A (CHGA Antibody Abstract)
Background Chromogranin A (CGA) is the major member of the granin family of acidic secretory glycoproteins that are expressed in all endocrine and neuroendocrine cells. Chromogranin A regulates catecholamine storage and release through intracellular (vesiculogenic) and extracellular (catecholamine release-inhibitory) mechanisms. Chromogranin A also plays a role in targeting peptide hormones and neurotransmitters to granules of the regulated pathway by virtue of their ability to aggregate in the low- pH , high-calcium environment of the trans-Golgi network. Therefore, Chromogranin A represents a specific marker of neuroendocrine cells and tumours including pheochromocytomas.Synonyms: CHGA, CgA, Chromogranin-A, Pituitary secretory protein I, SP-I
Gene ID 1113
NCBI Accession NP_001266
UniProt P10645
Pathways Negative Regulation of Hormone Secretion, cAMP Metabolic Process, Regulation of G-Protein Coupled Receptor Protein Signaling
