Purified recombinant Human IFN beta protein
Expression System: CHO cells
Bioactivity: Assay#1: The biological activity of PeproTech's human IFN-gamma was based on analysis using the WISH cell line with VSV as the challenge virus. The specific activitywas determined to be >5 x 10 8 units/mg, Assay#2: Measured by its ability to induce apoptosis in HeLa cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 20-30 ng/mL. - Purity
- > 95 % pure
- Endotoxin Level
- < 0.1 ng per µg (1 EU/µg).

- Background
-
Proteins of this family play an important role in inducing non-specific resistance against a broad range of viral infections. They also affect cell proliferation and modulate immune responses. Produced by peripheral blood leukocytes and lymphoblastoid cells, IFNa is an acid stable molecule that signals through IFNa/betaR, which is also used by IFNbeta. Both IFNs have similar anti-viral activity and regulate expression of MHC class I antigens. IFNa contains four highly conserved cysteine residues which form two disulfide bonds, one of which is necessary for biological activity.
