Background: C-erbB-2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase. It exhibits extracellular domains with two cysteine-rich sequences, and a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain flanked by large hydrophilic tails that carry several tyrosine autophosphorylation sites.
