    Western Blotting (WB), ELISA
    Specificity
The antibody labels a strong band of Syndecan 1 at approximately 40 kDa in ABIN1041003 samples and in other cancer cell lines.
    Cross-Reactivity
    Mouse (Murine), Rat (Rattus)
    Cross-Reactivity (Details)
The antibody labels a bands at ecan 1 antibodies oes not cross react to any other cellular protein.
    Characteristics
Syndecan 1-selective antibodies (Synd1) were generated against peptides taken from the human Syndecan 1protein. The Synd1-selective antibodies are affinity purified on an immobilized antigen based affinity matrix, the isolated antibodies were then stabilized in antibody stabilization buffer for long-term storage. The Synd1-selective antibodies are fully characterized for applications in western blotting and ELISA at the recommended dilutions. The supplier Provides Synd1 Western blot positive control samples in ready-to-use SDS-PAGE sample buffer. Limited quantities of antigenic blocking peptides for Synd1 antibody is also available, please inquire before ordering.

    Background
Syndecans are 4 member families of transmembrane heparin sulfate proteoglycans. Syndecan are single membrane pass domain containing protein that belongs to family of cell surface adhesion molecules comprise of 4 protein s (Syndecan 1-Syndecan 4), these have been implicated in protein-protein interaction. Though each paralog contains a conserved GXXXG dimerization domain, the Syndecan 1 TMD dimerizes weakly, Syndecan 3 and 4 TMDs dimerizes strongly, and syndecan -2 dimerizes very strongly. Beside homomeric interactions, the syndecan proteins also forms heteromeric interactions to direct full length syndecan proteins for cellular functional interactions via interactions with integrins and erbB family members receptors. The cell-cell interaction to heparin-binding domains that are prevalent in extracellular matrix components is believed to occur primarily through the syndecans. The activities of syndecans are mainly associated with highly conserved cytoplasmic domain and to their heparin sulfate chains, which serves to regulate the signaling of growth factors and morphogens. The role of syndecan in development of malignant phenotype is ambiguous and depends upon the specific type of cancer. The Syndecan 1 and 2 promote the malignancy of HT-1080 human fibrocarcoma by increasing the proliferation rate and metastasis. The extracellular, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic domains of Syndecan 1have all been found to regulate specific cellular processes, specifically the TMD of the Syndecan 1 has regulatory function in controlling focal adhesion disassembly, which in turn control cell migration speed. Syndecan 1 also plays an important role in human simplex virus type I induced membrane fusion and cell to cell spread for life long latent infection. The syndecan gene is located on human chromosome 2p24.1.
