Affinity purified Goat polyclonal IFN beta antibody Bioactivity: The exact concentration of antibody required to neutralize human interferon beta activity is dependent on the cytokine concentration, cell type, growth conditions and type of activity studied. The Neutralization Dose50 (ND50) for this antibody is defined as that concentration of antibody required to yield one-half maximal inhibition of the cytokine activity on a responsive cell line, when that cytokine is present at a concentration just high enough to elicit a maximum response. The ND50 for this antibody on human (HeLa/EMCV) cells is approx. 0.05- 0.2 µg/mL in the presence of 10ng/mL of human interferon beta, based on the anti-viral assay. The specific conditions are described in the figure legends.

Background
Interferons (IFNs) are proteins made and released by lymphocytes in response to the presence of pathogens-such as viruses, bacteria, or parasites-or tumor cells. They allow communication between cells to trigger the protective defenses of the immune system that eradicate pathogens or tumors.
