Application Details

Application Notes: Suitable for Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry (Frozen or Formalin-FixedParaffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue sections and cell smears). For IHC dilute concentared antibody at 1/50-1/100, use streptavidinapprox. biotin system orpolymer system, incubate 30 minutes at room temperature. FFPE tissue section requires antigen retrieval (boiling tissue in 10 mM citrate, pH 6.0 for10-15 minutes followed by cooling for 10-15 minutes). Immunofluorescence: Recommended Positive Control: Breast ca, colon ca, and colon ca cell line, LS174T andHT29.
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Background: Cytokeratin 19 is a type I acidic subfamily of intermediate filament protein that is expressed in stratified and simple type epithelia. Keratin 19 is not expressed in hepatocytes, therefore, antibody to keratin 19 is useful in the identification of liver metastasis. The degree of keratin 19 positivity in breast cancer distinguishes malignant from benign tumors.
