    Western Blotting (WB)
    Purification
Anti-GluR2/3 Antibody is directed against rat GluR2/3 protein. The antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. Reactivity is expected from the following species based on 100% sequence homology: chicken, human, mouse and zebra fish.
    Immunogen

Immunogen: Anti-GluR2/3 Antibody was produced by repeated immunizations with synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region.

    Immunogen Type: Peptide

    Isotype
    IgG
  • Application Notes

Application Note: Anti-GluR2/3 (Rabbit) antibody is suitable for use in Western Blotting. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band of approximately 100 kDa in size corresponding to GluR2/3 protein in the appropriate cell lysate or extract.

Background: GluR2/3 Antibody detects GluR2/3 protein. The ion channels activated by glutamate are typically divided into two classes. Those that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR) while those activated by α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid (AMPA) are known as AMPA receptors (AMPAR). The AMPAR are comprised of four distinct glutamate receptor subunits designated (GluR1-4) and they play key roles in virtually all excitatory neurotransmission in the brain. The GluR2 subunit is widely expressed throughout the nervous system where it is thought to play key roles in synaptic plasticity and learning and memory. Therefore, GluR2/3 is ideal for investigators involved in synaptic plasticity study and more in general in Neuroscience.
