Background
- Background: Forkhead box protein 03A (FOXO3a) belongs to a large family of Forkhead proteins that possesses a winged-helix DNA-binding domain called Forkhead box (FOX). FOXO3a is a transcription factor that functions to induce apoptosis in the absence of survival factors and in response to oxidative stress. Under conditions of oxidative stress FOXO3a is acetylated and localized to the nucleus where it may act as a transcriptional repressor.
