- Background
- Background: GLI3 (GLI family zinc finger 3) plays a role in limb development and has a dual function as a transcriptional activator and a repressor of the sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway. After phosphorylation and nuclear translocation, the full-length form of GLI3 (GLI3FL), acts as an activator (GLI3A) while the C-terminally truncated form (GLI3R) acts as a repressor [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) P10071].
