Background: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (Bdnf) is a key member of the neurotrophin family, which plays a vital role in the development, maintenance, and plasticity of the nervous system. In zebrafish (Danio rerio), the bdnf gene encodes a protein highly conserved with its mammalian counterpart, sharing significant sequence and functional homology.
