Synonyms: IFN-alphaA, IFNA, INFA2, Type I interferon
Interferon alpha 2a is an interferon class I produced by the cells of the innate immune system as a part of the defense response to foreign agents such as viruses, parasites and tumor cells. The human alpha-interferon family displays broad spectrum antiviral, antiproliferative and immunomodulatory activities on a variety of cell types. Interferon Alpha-2a (IFNa-2a), one of the subtypes, is a protein consisting of 165 amino acid. Its three-dimensional loop structure is maintained by two disulfide bridges. - Molecular Weight
