PICALM encodes a clathrin assembly protein, which recruits clathrin and adaptor protein complex 2 (AP2) to cell membranes at sites of coated-pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly. Additionally we are shipping Phosphatidylinositol Binding clathrin Assembly Protein Kits (13) and Phosphatidylinositol Binding clathrin Assembly Protein Proteins (6) and many more products for this protein.

PICALM and CLU (show CLU Antibodies) risk genotypes exert differential impacts on the hippocampal resting-state functional connectivity in healthy young subjects.
PICALM has a role in modulating autophagy activity and tau accumulation
the rs541458 and rs3851179 of PICALM SNPs are not related to development of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia in Turkish population
We detected a significant association of the MTHFR (show MTHFR Antibodies) rs1801133 and PICALM rs3851179 polymorphisms with AD.
PICALM SNP is significantly associated with late onset Alzheimer disease.
CALM is a major factor in controlling endocytic clathrin-coated vesicle size and maturation and hence in determining the rates of endocytic cargo uptake.
Data suggest a neural mechanism for APOE (show APOE Antibodies)-PICALM interactions in patients with manifest Alzheimer's disease and indicate that the PICALM genotype modulates both brain atrophy and cognitive performance in APOE (show APOE Antibodies) epsilon4 carrier
multiple PICALM isoforms are expressed in the human brain, that PICALM is robustly expressed in microvessels, and that expression of total PICALM is modestly correlated with the AD-associated SNP rs3851179.
allelic expression has shown that compelling PICALM allelic expression imbalance was not observed in most brain RNA samples
physical activity attenuated the effects of genetic risk (ie. the constellation of PICALM, BIN1 (show BIN1 Antibodies), and CLU (show CLU Antibodies) polymorphisms) on episodic memory
Confinement within the presynaptic bouton is mediated in part by synaptic vesicle protein association with the clathrin-based endocytic machinery to limit diffusional spread of newly exocytosed SV proteins.
the PICALM PIP2 binding domain is necessary for transferrin receptor endocytosis in erythroblasts and absolutely essential for erythroid development from mouse hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells in an erythroid culture system.
During leukemogenesis, CALM-AF10 (show MLLT10 Antibodies) plays critical roles in the cytoplasm.
These data reveal that PICALM plays a critical role in iron homeostasis.
PICALM, an adaptor protein involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis, regulates APP (show APP Antibodies) internalization and subsequent Abeta (show APP Antibodies) generation. PICALM contributes to amyloid plaque load in brain likely via its effect on Abeta (show APP Antibodies) metabolism.
These results indicate that CALM is required for erythroid maturation and transferrin (show Tf Antibodies) internalization in mice.
In leukemia cells, full-length CALM-AF10 localized to the nucleus with no consistent effect on growth factor endocyctosis, and suppressed histone H3 lysine 79 methylation regardless of the presence of clathrin
the Rarb (show RARB Antibodies) region of Mmu14 and Stmn2 (show STMN2 Antibodies), but not Cr1 (show TDGF1 Antibodies) or Clu (show CLU Antibodies) or Picalm have roles in prion (show PRNP Antibodies) disease
fit14R & fit15R are nonsense point mutations in the mouse PICALM gene. They are splice-donor alterations causing transcripts less abundant transcripts missing exons 4 & 17, respectively. The protein is truncated near the N or C termini, respectively.
This gene encodes a clathrin assembly protein, which recruits clathrin and adaptor protein complex 2 (AP2) to cell membranes at sites of coated-pit formation and clathrin-vesicle assembly. The protein may be required to determine the amount of membrane to be recycled, possibly by regulating the size of the clathrin cage. The protein is involved in AP2-dependent clathrin-mediated endocytosis at the neuromuscular junction. A chromosomal translocation t(10\;11)(p13\;q14) leading to the fusion of this gene and the MLLT10 gene is found in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and malignant lymphomas. The polymorphisms of this gene are associated with the risk of Alzheimer disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
