Zhu, Salazar, Zlatic, Fiza, Doucette, Heilman, Levey, Faundez, Lhernault: SPE-39 family proteins interact with the HOPS complex and function in lysosomal delivery. in Molecular biology of the cell 2009
Human Polyclonal VPS11 Primary Antibody for IHC (p), IHC - ABIN250805

these data suggest that vps11 promotes normal melanophore morphology and survival by inhibiting cathepsin release and/or activity.
Data show that Vps11 is not necessary for normal retinal development or initiation of melanin biosynthesis, but is essential for melanosome maturation and healthy maintenance of the RPE (show RPE Antibodies) and photoreceptors.
Our study indicated that in Arabidopsis, Vps11 is required for vacuole biogenesis in embryo, which is essential for embryogenesis. It also plays a role in pollen tube growth but looks not required for vacuole biogenesis in pollen tube.
our study reveals a defect in VPS11 as the underlying etiology for an autosomal recessive leukoencephalopathy disorder associated with a dysfunctional autophagy-lysosome trafficking pathway
In Ashkenazi-Jewish patients, syndrome with hypomyelination, developmental delay, increasing appendicular spasticity, truncal hypotonia and acquired microcephaly is associated with VPS11 missense mutation, p.Cys846Gly.
Vesicle mediated protein sorting plays an important role in segregation of intracellular molecules into distinct organelles. Genetic studies in yeast have identified more than 40 vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) genes involved in vesicle transport to vacuoles. This gene encodes the human homolog of yeast class C Vps11 protein. The mammalian class C Vps proteins are predominantly associated with late endosomes/lysosomes, and like their yeast counterparts, may mediate vesicle trafficking steps in the endosome/lysosome pathway.
