CD49d is a 150kD transmembrane glycoprotein, which may be cleaved to form 70kD and 80kD fragments. CD49d is expressed on a broad range of cells including lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils and thymocytes. The CD49d molecule forms heterodimers with either integrin Beta 1 (to form VLA-4) or beta 7 (to form alpha4 beta7), which mediate cell adhesion to VCAM-1and fibronectin.Synonyms: CD49 antigen-like family member D, Integrin alpha-4, Integrin alpha-IV, VLA-4, VLA4
