    Western Blotting (WB), ELISA
    Purpose
TERT is a protein encoded by the TERT gene which is approximately 126,9 kDa. TERT is localised to the nucleus. It is involved in chromosome maintenance, telomere C-strand synthesis, signalling by Wnt and embryonic stem cell differentiation pathways. It is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by the addition of the telomere repeat TTAGGG. The enzyme consists of a protein component with reverse transcriptase activity and an RNA component which serves as a template for the telomere repeat. Telomerase expression plays a role in cellular senescence. TERT is expressed in the blood, lung, liver, skin and nervous system. Mutations in the TERT gene may result in aplastic anemia. STJ98964 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This primary antibody detects endogenous TERT.
