Purpose: Mouse Monoclonal anti-CD117 (KIT/983), Purified, BSA-free

Characteristics: This MAb recognizes a protein of 145 kDa, identified as CD117/p145kit. It is found on a wide variety of tumor cells including follicular and papillary carcinoma of thyroid, adenocarcinomas from endometrium, lung, ovary, pancreas, and breast as well as malignant melanoma, endodermal sinus tumor, and small cell carcinoma. However, anti-CD117 has been particularly useful in differentiating gastrointestinal stromal tumors from Kaposi?s sarcoma, tumors of smooth muscle origin, fibromatosis, and neural tumors of the GI tract. Anti-CD117 is also useful in recognizing myeloblasts in bone marrow biopsy and clot section. Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF® dyes and other labels. CF® dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability. Note: Conjugates of blue fluorescent dyes like CF®405S and CF®405M are not recommended for detecting low abundance targets, because blue dyes have lower fluorescence and can give higher non-specific background than other dye colors.

Application Details

Application Notes: Immunohistology formalin-fixed 2-4 μg/mL

• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA,  pH 9.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes
• Immunofluorescence 0.5-1 μg/mL
• Flow Cytometry 0.5-1 μg/million cells/0.1 mL
• Optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by user

Esophagus, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) or testicular germ cell tumor. Melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis and mast cells in the dermis of normal skin.
